Newton Aycliffe Squadron Air Cadets

Newton Aycliffe Cadets at the Armistice Parade

The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a military, uniformed youth organisation. We provide a range of activities and training for teenagers offering many rare opportunities. Formed to assist the efforts of WWII the Corps can affectively be seen as the RAF cadets, with the basic uniform being the same and a very close tie between the two organisations. There is typically a squadron in, or local to, your community run by dedicated volunteers on an evening and occasionally weekends. The activities provided offer a break from school and college work whilst supplimenting the learning with great new experiences.

1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron has cadets primarily from the Newton Aycliffe, Aycliffe and Heighington region, but also has cadets from Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Ferryhill, Sedgefield and even as far as Darlington. With the other squadrons in the area we may not be in the best location for you as there is a squadron at both Bishop Auckland and Darlington. However, as the range of activities between squadrons alter depending on staff availability and skills it is often worth finding a squadron which is strong in the activities which best suit you - more about 1407's strengths can be found on the activities page.
